One of the most impressively located hotels in the magnificent Strathspey and Cairngorms region. It’s hard to imagine a more splendid setting for such a quietly elegant, small country house style hotel in Scotland.
But the Hotel is far more than an imposing building and setting. It gives you an opportunity to experience a ‘modern traditional’ style of gracious living, somewhat reminiscent of a ‘bygone age’.
The village of Nethy Bridge (once known as Abernethy – hence Abernethy Forest and Abernethy Golf Course near by) has been a holiday destination since Victorian times, and still it remains unspoilt., with the hotel in a lovely location at the eastern end of the village, close to the ancient Caledonian pine forest. With the dramatic backdrop of the often snowcapped Cairngorm mountains and hundreds of acres of Abernethy Forest (RSPB owned) Nethy Bridge spans the lower reaches of the River Nethy a mile before it reaches the River Spey, one of Scotland's foremost salmon rivers.
Then of course there is Aviemore. The neighbouring famous Highland resort town of Aviemore is probably best known as a skiing resort.
The whole of Cairngorms National Park beckons. Some of the UK's finest golf, fishing, skiing and walking are available from the hotel. You can explore ancient castles and evidence of our turbulent history, as well as the famous Malt Whisky Trail. As one of Europe's last great wilderness areas, rare natural history finds its home here. This is a renowned naturalists paradise. Ospreys famously return annually; so do many of Mountview’s guests.
