Flavour rich local Balliefurth mutton now available!
We have just taken delivery of some beautiful mutton from Balliefurth Farm, a local farm only 3 miles from the front door of Mountview. If you haven't tried mutton before you are in for a real treat, it's flavour is rich and meaty and when prepared by skilled chefs it is absolutely delicious and surprisingly succulent and tender!
Over the next couple of months you will see Balliefurth mutton dishes featuring as 'Specials'. As we only have a limited supply - when it's gone, it's gone!
So far we have served a mouthwatering slow roasted leg of mutton, the most amazingly tender sharing plate of rump of mutton and a flavourful mutton cottage pie.
Local butcher Mike Mustard had the task of butchering it for us, ably assisted by our head chef, Ettienne. See pics below!
Ettienne said "It was exciting to see the whole butchery process and to have an input into getting exactly the right cuts to serve at Mountview. I am so impressed with the quality of the meat and really looking forward to creating dishes using the different cuts."
